Earth Day Recycling Project
Reflection
We made a spirit cube out of recycled materials for our earth day project. We made the cube out of letters that represent our school. Each letter, H or T, is a side of the cube and the bottom is black. The letters are made of bamboo glued onto recycled wood squares we found in the classroom. We also used recycled magazines to cut out words that we feel describe High Tech High. The background for the letters is painted to match High Tech High’s logo sign. Some challenges we encountered while building our spirit cube were deciding what to do for our project in the beginning and connecting the bottom of the cube. We originally decided to just make the regular High Tech High logo sign, which is just flat but then we decided that it would be more meaningful if we could create a three dimensional piece to display in the school. When we were actually constructing the cube, it was difficult to nail it in place because the squares were not exactly perfect squares. We overcame our challenges by putting small wood blocks on the inside of the cube and nailing it to that so the thin wood wouldn’t split. Overall, we worked well together on the recycling day project and we are proud of our final result.
