Presentation of Learning 2014
How have you grown during your eleventh grade year (academically, socially, or emotionally, use HOHAM) 2.5 mins
I have grown academically this year by challenging myself in all of my subjects. I used self-advocacy to hold myself to high standards for my work. I persevered academically by trying my best to complete all of my work well and on time, even if I had to prioritize my time. Taking honors courses was an example of using self advocacy, because I embraced the challenge and grew from the experience. For all of my classes, especially the ones that I was not taking honors in, I always completed any challenge options that were available to me, such as being on the production team for the We Choose Our Own Adventure book. I went into this year with a positive attitude, and even though it was hard sometimes, I managed to maintain a positive outlook on this year and my future.
What are your goals for senior year?
My goals for senior year are to take college algebra at Palomar College again, because when I took it in 10th grade I did poorly. I feel very prepared for that class now, and my goal is to get an A grade. I also am considering taking another class at Palomar College, such as a class in biology or science. Another goal I have would be to finish all of the college applications that I can before senior year starts, as well as getting a head start on my senior thesis.
Ideas for senior internship?
For senior internship, I really want to intern at a mobile spay and neuter clinic. I want to do this internship because I had the opportunity to tour the inside of a mobile spay and neuter clinic and I was amazed. The single bus can spay/neuter almost 40 animals in a single day. I think that mobile spay and neuter clinics will be very crucial in solving the huge homeless pet problem in America. I also want to see how dog breed discrimination is affecting the population of homeless pets, so that one day I can help save lives.
