Introduction Hi, I am Ellie Holtaway, a 16 year old trying to juggle academics, competitive synchronized swimming, taking care of my pets, and maintaining a healthy diet. My lifestyle is very busy. My parakeet, Kevin, typically starts screaming around seven in the morning, even on weekends, demanding seeds and fresh water. I get up, feed him, and change the paper on the bottom of his cage. Meanwhile, the rats are getting extremely excited, anticipating their breakfasts. After I feed them and the mouse, I get ready and head off to school. I get home from school at about four and have half an hour to quickly do as much homework as I can, eat dinner, and get ready before leaving for math class or synchronized swimming practice. When I get home, I finish up homework and usually get to bed around eleven.
My eating habits are mostly good, but I am a vegetarian living in a family who love meat. This usually means I don't eat as much dinner as I should, because I skip out on the meat, which usually makes up the main course at my house. The biggest problem with my diet is drinking water. For some reason I just don't drink water very often, and I don't like soda or sport drinks, so I get dehydrated sometimes. I try to eat healthy, and I am hoping this project will help me fix the flaws in my diet.

Today we had no school, it was the start of February break. First thing I did was have my second driving lesson. Then I went to see Warm Bodies with some friends at the movie theater. We went out for pizza after for lunch. Then I went to synchronized swimming practice. I got home and then we left at 9 pm to start our road trip to Utah!

Today was my first day at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. I did not sleep well, and I got up at five in the morning. Then we went to a bus tour of the sanctuary and watched an orientation video. After lunch we volunteered at the Bunny House, where we cleaned cages, pet bunnies, and fed bunnies some dandelion greens. Then we ate dinner and went to bed.

They have over 50 horses at Best Friends so that was hard work. Then we ate lunch at the vegetarian buffet they have at the sanctuary. Next we finished off our day by volunteering with the puppies at the sanctuary! We took some of them to the the dog park.

Today was the third day at best friends animal sanctuary. We started off by volunteering in 'cat world' where they take care of hundreds of cats. We worked on socializing cats in a regular cat room, a special room for obese cats, and the room for cats with feline leukemia. Then we ate lunch in the sanctuary's cafeteria. Today they served mexican food. We finished off our volunteering at horses. We walked ponies, and scooped manure. Then, we went on a tour of an old Native American house and grain storage area. We also saw real pictographs and paintings from thousands of years ago.

My eating habits are mostly good, but I am a vegetarian living in a family who love meat. This usually means I don't eat as much dinner as I should, because I skip out on the meat, which usually makes up the main course at my house. The biggest problem with my diet is drinking water. For some reason I just don't drink water very often, and I don't like soda or sport drinks, so I get dehydrated sometimes. I try to eat healthy, and I am hoping this project will help me fix the flaws in my diet.

Today they served mexican food. We finished off our volunteering at horses. We walked ponies, and scooped manure. Then, we went on a tour of an old Native American house and grain storage area. We also saw real pictographs and paintings from thousands of years ago.
